Okay, this isn’t actually a post about David Bowie, but the man is somewhat of a genius. Best of Bowie is an awesome compilation.
One thing I love about the winters in New England (there aren’t many, let’s be honest) is that the sky is usually very clear at night. I love walking around on a starry evening and listening to the snow crunch underneath my feet- it’s beautiful. The image below is from here, and I actually have a print of this in my home.

I LOVE seeing the stars too and hearing the snow (sometimes this doesn’t happen, because I listen to my iPod everywhere). There’s a new song by The Killers called “Spaceman” and it’s lyrics are relevant to your post. Check it out on YouTube.

Have you ever walked around in the woods with lots of snow in the ground? At HC, my first year, I helped with the maple sugaring, and it was gorgeous, both visually and audibly, as the snow and the woods keeps every sound hushed, like there’s something sacred in the air.
I, too, find little in New England’s winter to celebrate. If it were half as long, I’d be okay, but sheesh, 6 months (or more) of winter coat use is WAY too long!
